Distributed Energy Resources Distributed Energy Resources

We are working diligently to provide clean, sustainable energy through efficient utilization of natural resources. We are actively exploring innovative ideas and strategic partnerships that will help contribute to a prosperous future for generations to come.

Through EnerFORGE, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oshawa Power and Utilities Corporation, we are planning to expand into distributed generation utilizing renewable resources—such as wind, solar, and biogas—to pursue the expansion of our “clean and green” distributed generation assets. EnerFORGE owns and operates a 2.4 MW natural gas fueled combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the site of Durham College and the Ontario Tech University campus, in Oshawa. Our CHP plant generates both electricity and thermal energy to power and heat the various campus buildings and displaces the equivalent load of approximately 600 homes from the electricity grid in Ontario.
